NYRR – Achille’s 5 Mile
I am inspired every year by the myriad of athletes overcoming their physical challenges in this race. After 8 of 20 running classes, I have taken an average of 15 seconds off my mile (8:41/mile; 43:21 total).
Yosemite Planning
Yosemite at the end of May; Happy Isles -> Illilouette with overnight camping south of Mount Star King [5.2 + (1-2.9) miles]. (simlar to this forum suggestion)

Still need to reserve our wilderness permit reservations for the Happy Isle trailheads, and will plan to spend the night before in a backpacker campground.
Plan B is to get a first-come-first-served wilderness permit for Happy Trails to Glacier Point, and take the bus back down from glacier point to the car.
Potential Flooding in LA
This map is the Army Corps of Engineers’ flooding estimate for southern Louisiana (mostly the Atchafalaya Basin) if they open the Morganza Spillway (just North of Baton Rouge).
And here is a map showing the worst case scenario for New Orleans if the Morganza Spillway is not opened (original story at NOLA.com)
NYRR – Japan Day 4 Mile
Today was a beautiful day for my first Central Park race of 2011 (8:57/mile; 35:47 total). I’m looking forward to picking up my pace with the Tuesday / Thursday group runs starting in June.
